Lit by a television in the corner of my sitting room 0.60s f/3.5 at 28.0mm iso200.
I probably should have photoshopped the corner of the room and the picture frame in the upper right corner and maybe shot on ISO100.
I find the whole running back and forth to the back of the camera a complete pain in the proverbial.
Does anyone have any hint’s/tips for focusing on empty space or generally for taking self portraits? Do you put something in the space or use the markings on the lens (if so how?).
If you can sit somebody in the space for you and then auto focus on them and then switch to manual focus, the focus shoul remain the same. Not sure how good this will be though. I’ve never tried it on a self portrait.
I think a bit more engagement from from the subject (you) with the camera would have worked a bit better. It’s a little soft too and I thikn a crop from the top to get rid of the empty space would put more emphasis on you as well. The lighting is quite nice. It’s soft and subtle. It seems a little noisy for ISO 200 though?
I don’t mean to be over critical. I think you’ve got the basis for a cracking image and a reshoot to clean the image up would bring the best out of it.
