Shadow study…

Okay then, time to break my duck in this section…

This is my first moderately successful attempt at this sort
of thing, or successful at least in the sense that the images turned
out close enough to what I was aiming for. As for whether or not
they’re actually successfull, well, I’ll leave that up to the judgement
of those more experienced in shooting nudes…

Brings to mind classical Greek statues like them

I’d say this is a really good first attempt Rob…

Close enough to what you were aiming for? Were you expecting more shadows?

I like the lighting… Is it window light? It’s quite strong, a bit different to lots of
softly lit female nude shots. I like that. Although, the highlights are maybe a little
    overpowering in the third picture.

I think the second is the strongest, really like the gesture and the ring on the thumb
is very intriguing. Great light too.
In the first and the third, I think I’d like to see a little more, collar bones and shoulders.

If I was going to be really picky, I’d say the creases in the backdrop are a little distracting,
maybe a bit more distance (or a run over with the iron) might help with that.

I also feel like I don’t have much of a clue what I’m talking about!

Well done… I know this is not easy.

Thanks Brendan. Classical Greek statues eh? That was an unexpected
comment to be honest. I wonder would colour postings have brought
    the same thing to mind…

Thanks Sinead for your detailed reply, very helpful, particularly in
relation to the crops of the first and third. Collarbone and shoulder
would definitely have improved both of these…

The centre one is my own favourite too, pleased to have gotten so
much skin detail. Lighting was just one small softbox with the cover
removed as I was looking for a harder type of light to accentuate
    the shadow edges…

The creased backdrop, yes, I know, I should’ve gotten the iron out.
    How terribly lazy of me…

Thanks again for the useful comments…
