The Sheep Gate across the River Boyne from Trim Castle. Taken as the sun tried to burn through the early morning fog.

This is an outstanding Image. The exposure is spot on.

    Thanks for posting it.

    love the composition here,
Can’t really offer any constructive c&c,

Hmm.. do you mind if I share my opinion? I have to.

I am not convinced that this is the best composition you could get. If you divide the image into four equal parts, the lower left will be dominant and dark, underexposed. The lower right is still well filled in, but the top of the image is just empty for no reason. Also, I feel that the gate is too close to the left edge of the frame. I would imagine that maybe moving back and to the right a bit and using a longer lens, plus leaving more space on the left and the bottom could have improved things a bit.

Would you have some shots that followed this one? With a bit more balanced lighting, more green in the greens in the foreground. This looks a bit pushed, as if it was underexposed to start with. I would like to see what photos you took before and after… post some if it’s not too much bother… I would be curious.

would agree, the composition could be stronger.

first thing that struck me was there was just a little
too much sky and not enough foreground.

I tend to agree on this too.
Looks very tight in the frame. I would also say this is more suited to a landscape crop as opposed to the square.
Lots of potential in this and def can improve this image

Thanks for your comments (and the others). As a beginner I welcome c&c from more experienced photographers and hopefully will learn from them.
Here’s the uncut version straight out of the camera. I didn’t have lot to work with on the left, but I had taken a chunk of grass from the foreground. The lighting was difficult as it was fairly thick fog.
Feel free to edit as you will.
