SHOES!

I would really appreciate help on this. I’ve been asked to take photos of shoes for a website and it’s not something i’ve done before.
i know the front of the shoe isn’t sharp so i’m going to try again with a smaller aperture.
i’d be extremely grateful for c&c. i can pm you the website to give you an idea of what they already have.
thanks!!!
nfl-fanParticipantI’d post a revised version which addresses the sharpness… first thing I noticed before I read your comments.
Other than that… well… a shoe is a shoe.. it’s well exposed and the background is clean. Not much more you could say really.
summerdreamnMemberthanks nfl :) just wanted to make sure i got my exposure right with the white background. the problem is, i see the photograph but the client sees the shoe, the wrinkle in the heel, the uneven straps, but i don’t honestly know what i can do about that!
nfl-fanParticipantI see what you mean… the client wants the shoe formed perfectly in the photo… can’t say I can help on this one.
The practically of women’s shoes () simply make something like this very difficult.
The shot looks good though. Sharp and clean throughout.
ExpresbroParticipantI was just going to say that I think any problem with the pictures here, especially the second one, is more with the shoe than the shots.
Maybe they could supply you with a better presented shoe for a start. The soles do look quite uneven and the straps look like someone was sitting on them before they gave them to you
They’d probably look a lot better with a nice shapely foot inside them anyway. Maybe that’s an option?
PodgeMemberIt sounds like you need the client with you when you’re doing the shoot
or
you need to fix those problems in photoshop.
ThorstenMemberThe easiest way to work with something like this is to get it right when you take the shot. That also means that you should have a perfect specimen to work with, so in fairness, the client ought to be giving you a better shoe to work with. If they are unable to do that, and they still want a perfect shoe, then you can make a lot of corrections in Photoshop. But this takes time and time is money, so you should charge accordingly!
summerdreamnMemberthanks, everyone. i did give them both options of better shoes and photoshop but seemingly the soles tend to crease because they’re special dance shoes, either way, they were happy with the shots i delivered. my first paying job plus another product shoot. i am so giddy with excitement. yay for me :)
DenverDollParticipantThat’s great for you Summer!!
Congratulations and nice work too!
