Shots from Kerry
-
JKPhotographyParticipant
Just a few different shots I took on a weekend in Kerry.
Panoramic of the lower parts of the Lakes of Killarney.
Personally my favorite of all my pictures so far.
An old farmyard I found on the Dingle Peninsula after my satnav decided to take me on a shortcut through the mountains.
Dingle Harbour from the Fungii tour boat.
Fishermen in Dingle Bay.
Got this multi-shot panoramic while coming back in off the Dingle Peninsula, you can see the Atlantic Ocean in the far right of the picture.
The Kerry Bog Village on the Ring of Kerry.
Forge in the Kerry Bog Village. All comments welcome and appreciated :D
Dingle Town.
An old church in Kenmare. All comments welcomed and appreciated :D
Mardai24ParticipantLove the photos John. No 2 above caught my eye immediately. We stayed in a house last May directly opposite. I took many a photo of it. Must post ’em. It was a rubbish week. Rained almost the whole time, and when it wasn’t raining, it was drizzling!
Did you use an ND grad for no. 1?
Personal favourite for me: Dingle Town B&W. Gorgeous. Really athmospheric.
Nice set, well done. I’d be proud to own them.
JKPhotographyParticipantThanks for the comments Mardai24,
You say you stayed across the road from the farmyard? I have never been able to figure out exactly where this place was since I took it!
Its a pretty hit or miss County for the weather, that time I was there I got lucky with the weather but been there plenty of times it has been bucketing down!
About No.1 I didn’t use an ND filter, jus a little touch-up here and there in photoshop, actually investing in a set of Cokin filters soon.Again, thanks for your comments! :)
mwallParticipantLove no 2 John, I’m always drawn to these scenes…where once there was life!
MiketexMemberShot No.1 appears to be soft throughout and the horizon is falling from right to left. Your other shots are very good with the exception of the B&W shots which appear to have streaking in them from top to bottom.
JKPhotographyParticipantThe lines in the B&W were purposefully photoshopped in to give an older effect to the pictures and no.1 I was going for the softer look to the picture.
Thanks for comments.fguihenParticipantI really like the wide panorama. The only real problem with it though is its ratio. Pano’s generally work best if they have a width to height ratio of 3:1, especially in print format. It might be worth revisiting the photoshop file to see if you can add in some sky and foreground or if you can shorten the image at all.
It does work for this image, but im not so sure how the print would work out.
I quite like the one with the boats all moored up in the left, but i would remove the street lamp in the right of the image. Nice set overall.
phillipMemberJKPhotographyParticipantThanks for the replies,
Good point about the street lamp Fguihen, to be honest you only drew my attention to how out of place it looks, may bring that one to the photoshop again :-)
There wasn’t much I could do with the pano in processing, if I left more sky it would have put the horizon in the middle and the foreground way too low and there wasn’t anything left of the foreground to shoot more of that, and I also didn’t want to loose the rolling hills to the left or Atlantic to the right, never tried printing it yet, but I get your point, it would want to be a very long print to look good. Will just have to stay as one of them rule breakers I guess :-D
Thanks for the suggestions, ill revisit the one of Dingle and remove that lamp for sure!
