Shower over The Mournes

Another shot for critique. I do quite a bit of hillwalking but find most of my images quite bland and similar. In this one, I was trying to catch the rain-shower in the distance along with the well-known Mourne Wall.
Anyone else on here do mountain shots? Would love to see some as I tend to just ‘point and shoot’ when out on the hills as opposed to trying to get something a bit different.
AnonymousParticipantThe image appears to be running from right to left but a beautiful shot all the same.

Thanks John. I assume you mean that the eye is drawn from left to right? That’s a fair point, I think the eye follows the line of the wall. Maybe it lacks a point of focus?
SeaviewParticipantIt’s a nice shot Paul but it could do with a stronger foreground, that said I do love the wall meandering away in the distance.
Dave.

Sorry Paul, I didn’t explain myself properly. The horizon line nor the lake in the background appears to be level.
AidyParticipantI’d be more than happy with that shot myself Paul – great drama! I went up my first mountain last week funny enough, Sawel Mountain in the Sperrins, and I’m hooked now. Didn’t get any good shots from the summit though as the light was rubbish. Must post a few anyway. I think if the light isn’t good, nearly impossible to get good photos.

With you now and that’s a good spot. Quick straighten out of the horizon done and here is the result..

It’s tough to get a decent shot in the mountains alright and if the light is rubbish, you can forget about it! Look forward to seeing a few shots from your hikes. I have some myself from Sawel, must dig them out and post them up!
