i have a yashica 24 and a practica mtl5 and i want to get a shutter release cable, not necessarily one that will do both if thats possible, but should i be looking for specific brand or types or are they universal.

Hi Clive, I think that there is a universal cable available or one fits all, I’ve also bought on e-bay a mechanical timer cable release, spent no more than €15, works a treat, I use a canon AE1 and a bronica etrsi and same cable for both.Hope this helps and the advice is right. Paul

i just had a look at that bronica etrsi on the net, god its a lovely looking thing.
thanks for the advice, on ebay at the mo, there’s some cheap enough cables with free postage so just gonna take a chance.
    cheers paul

If you are buying then on the cheap maybe buy two or three, its quite easy to lose them and always handy to have a spare one in the camera bag,

    Hi Clive,

I echo the idea of having a few spares, if you’re buying them cheap. I bought a nice woven stainless steel one a while back, but through a little mis-application of force, it’s now non-functional. Spares are good :)
