I’m thinking of getting a wide zoom lens. I will be using it for landscape and will try it out at drifting and other motorsports, and for doing static photos of cars at show etc. I just sold my 28-300 lens and only have a 70-200 f2.8 and 2x teleconverter. I will be adding a 50 f1.8 to my kit too.
I can get a used 15-30mm cheap enough, it looks like a great lens and takes very nice photos, but is the extra 5mm of the 10-20 worth considering.
Each mm at the wide end makes a big difference, so it really depends on what kind of photography you like. I have the 10-20, love it, and would recommend it wholeheartedly. It’s a great lens with surprisingly little distortion at the wide end.
Thanks for the replies, I will be adding a 28-70 f2.8 at some stage in the future, but though it would be nice to get a wide angle first. I was thinking about the sigma 10-20 then I heard that there was a the 15-30 for sale. It looks a better built lens, and I think it is more expensive to buy too. Has anyone used it. Or is the 10-20 just taking over now.
