Hi folks –
For sale is a Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 DG HSM in the Canon EF mount.I’ve been using this lens for the last 3 years with the Canon 5D, and it is spectacular on a full-frame body.
Some images of mine made with this lens and the 5D:
It is in excellent condition – minor usage marks on the body, but the optics are spotless and the AF system works fine.
Price is €400 for this lens, which comes with both caps.
PM, email or call me if you have any questions.
Cheers,
PeterCianMcLiamParticipantSorry to butt in on your ad but am looking at picking one of these up for my Nikon D700 and am wondering what it’s flare and ghosting is like? I know it’s sharp and has well controlled distortion but flare is my biggest concern. What are you replacing it with if you dont mind me being nosy? :)

I haven’t noticed any ghosting with this lens, and flare is as well controlled as you could expect from an ultra-wide angle. Not absent, but not terribly noticeable either (except in extreme cases).I plan to replace it with the Nikon 14-24 now that it can be adapted.
And thanks on the Iceland comment =)

petercoxMemberJarek_ZParticipantHi Peter.
Do you ever visit Galway or these parts?? Its quite far to Cork for me…
Cheers

I have no plans to be up in Galway in the immediate future. I can ship it up to you no problem, though.Cheers,
PeterJarek_ZParticipantHi Peter.
Because its 3 yrs old lens and presume that was used quite often, i can offer €220 cash with collection.
Many thanks

If you can find someone willing to sell you this lens for €220, then please let me know so I can sell them this bridge I’ve been trying to get rid of.Peter

We both know that is not so popular wide lens, especially with canon mount. Probably there is no other ad at the moment in Ireland. All i can find thats the ads from other EU countries (i.e Polish) where you can buy new lens with 3 yrs warranty for arround your asking, even a bit cheaper (for few months old). Thats why im looking for used one, because im not so sure is that the good investment. Thats only my private opinion but I’ve got bad experience of using other sigma wide lens – 10-20 which had all the time the same problem with AF. Its not so big problem if it still under warranty, but yours is 3 yrs old which is quite long time like for profesional usage.
I can still offer 220 cash but with collection on this monday or tuesday, after that im gone on holidays.
Anyway, good luck with sale!
Cheers
JarekCianMcLiamParticipantWell, I’ve been watching this lens on Ebay for months now and all used models in popular mounts rarely sell for less than €400, except Sigma mount for obvious reasons. I’ve seen great reviews and great photos from it, it’s one of the best third party ultra-wide lenses and also unique, if you get a good copy. I’d buy this in a heartbeat if it were Nikon mount, the advantages of three years of pro use almost outweigh the disadvantages since you know it’s unlikely to be a dud unlike buying from ebay or elsewhere where you don’t get to return it if it’s a lemon.
You should also note the rules which forbid the ‘I can get this for the price of breakfast in Shanghai, on Ebay’ type of haggling!
BMParticipantpetercoxMemberYes, thanks Cian. Couldn’t have said it better myself. This is indeed a good copy and is the only full-frame 12mm rectilinear lens in the Canon mount on the market.
Jarek – €400 is the floor for this lens, I’m afraid. I won’t be accepting your offer.
