I’ve been using my Sigma 15-30mm lens a lot more lately since I got my D3 (haven’t used it in years since I shot 35mm) and I’ve noticed on the EXIF data that it shows up as a 15-31mm lens which is pretty unusual? Anybody else check to see if their EXIF data matches what the lens says it should be?
I think the actual focal lengths differing slightly from the billed range is reasonably common. Amateur Photographer generally includes the measured focal length in their lens tests. There was the Sigma 18-200 which differed significantly in that the actual longest focal length was I think in the region of 170mm. This might have been corrected since though
A D3- good luck with that-
I’d be so tempted by the D3 if Nikon made a 24mm shift-
and I keep writing that in the hope that someone from Nikon is reading-
My Nikkor 85mm 1.8 shows up in the exif as a f/1.6-
and I think I’d believe the metering before the engraving.
I think the reason for the anomaly might have something to do with marketing-
maybe its easier to sell an f/1.4 for more than twice the price of an f/1.6,
if you call the 1.6 a 1.8…
