I’m looking for a reasonably priced tele for my 30D – primarily for mountain biking, portraits and I’ll also be assisting/second shooter at some weddings this summer. Constant 2.8 is important for quick flash recycle times, and the inevitable low light in forests and churches/receptions.
This is about £315 shipped from kea-photo (£395 for the Mk II from the UK).
A Canon 70-200 2.8 (IS) would be ideal, but its about double/triple the price of this Sigma, and if this would suffice, I will be very happy to save some pounds.
I think the focal length should be ok – it actually works out pretty similar to a 70-200 on a 1.3x crop 1D which seems to work for a lot of people.
Finally, they have also released a mk II version. Were there problems with the first one?
