    Hi Mike,

I hope you don’t mind me saying, but I think you missed the real photo opportunity here. That was a longer focal length to frame those steps and the people, with the sun and water not in the scene at all. Think how powerful that image would have been.

The composition you have chosen here doesn’t work for me. The rock seems incidental in the scene, and the sun and people (which are the 2 main focal points IMO) are both located pretty much in the centre of the scene.

I don’t want to sound negative, and I just hope that this comment will help you to explore other options the next time you are faced with such a scene.

Really nice shot Mike, passed the same shot up myself the other evening as i rushed out the coast road to Barna, sorry i didn’t stop now. Well spotted, especially the rock in the foreground.

Hi Mike, looove this shot. The rock in the foregrond, people on the steps just add so much to it. As a begiiner could you or someone else advise, what shutter speed, iso aperture, lens etc.. i need to be using. I live along the Shannon and have tried and failed to catch some of the lovely sunsets i see

    Thanks for the comments everyone.

Steve – thanks for that and any comment, whatever it is, is never taken personally so its always good to get someones elses perspective on something. To answer your comments, I did take that “shot” you mentioned and will post it up when I can be assed to process it. I stuck this one up purely as it stuck out the most of the series I took whilst having a gander in Lightroom. My best is yet to be posted so hopefully that will get even more raves LOL. Oh, including the rock I personally thought gave it an edge against the usual sea/backround shots.

    Thanks again

    Mike
