Silent valley B+W

    hi folk.
    toke a we trip to silent valley in Newcastle Co down. really nice place come home with some nice shot.

    I have been trying to get the grips with B+W. total different ball game than color i find..
    so here is what am doing at the min.

    all comment good or bad pleas, and any tips for b+w..

    good call on converting this to b&w. as its a early day shot it wouldnt work so well in color but the contract works well in B&w.

    Overall i like the shot, and have little fault with it. nice work.

    Good balance lines, nice tones, yearning to see more water form behing the hill.

    Landscape photography is a 3D subject rendered in a 2D medium. To create a 3D impression the photographer needs to use light and shadow. Unfortunately the lighting in your photo is too even throughout giving rather flat image, lacking any depth. The success of any landscape photo depends on the time of day it was taken.
    You have a nice composition here and I would suggest that visiting the location at an earlier or later time of day would render a more rewarding photo.

    toke the photo back into photo shop and done the image again and added a sky this time think this one works better.

    I would agree with Tex,

    Go back and shoot it in better light, its a nice composition worth going back for
