Simple Images Project
-
edg3Participant
I started this idea back in August but with starting college in September it got kinda sidetracked. Fortunately I was able to expand it in line with college work so its coming together nicely.
The idea of the project is to make me think more about my shots, to make them simple and give them substance. As I’ve been mostly a landscape and wildlife photographer to date this was a tough exercise to get used to, and alot of the shots ended up being dumped. So far I have 4 images.I’m also working on another project on film that I hope I can join with this when its done.
Any feedback welcome.
Mardai24ParticipantI like them all very much. I think my favourite has to be the very last one. The first one, the track on the right hand side is, to my inexperienced eye, a little burnt out. But then, that might have been your intention. No. 2 is just, again for my personal taste, a little too weak. But no’s 3 and 4, spot on. With no. 4 being my favourite. I’d definitely have that hanging on my wall and be very proud to have taken it.
edg3ParticipantThanks for the reply Mar.
I was going for the burnt out old fashioned look in that one. The sky was seriously messed up because I’d totally forgotten to pack my ND filter kit and the sun was ruining the picture, but i thought the shot was to good to waste. So i used my usual trickery to convert to b&w and reduced the brightness overall. I just thought the burnt out look on the tracks surrounding the shiny metal line looked the park. I’d tried it brighter but it didnt have the same feeling to it.
No. 3 was for a college project where we’d to try and explain ourselves in one or a series of shots. I banged my head against a wall trying to come up with something til the day before it was due when my girlfriend helped me out!
The foggy road was actually something i snapped out the front of the car on my way home from Germany after xmas. Reflected how I felt and I just had to keep it.
I’m hoping to get some of the printed big, framed and put them on my wall to replace my band posters :DpbyrneMemberI particularly like image #2, there’s a great sense of mystery, a feeling that there might be something out there, just out of sight.
Great work.
Paul
edg3ParticipantThanks Paul!
I’ve been getting some great word back on these images, I think I found what I’d like to specialize in :) One of my tutors does work like this and has gotten awards etc for it, I really enjoy his classes, get me thinking and imagining instead of just snapping.
