Sit-on Kayak.
-
SeaviewParticipant
I’m thinking of buying on of the below sit-on kayaks and I’m just wondering does anyone have experience with either. I have a sit-in already which I use on lakes and rivers but as I live near the sea / beach I thinking of getting a sit-on for little bit of coastal exploration. My biggest problem is the back isn’t great after many years of abuse  and I was wondering will a sit-on kayak be hard on my back, I will purchase a good seat.

plainoldmeMemberI’d go with the Mysto, it’s a good quality boat with good features. Will last you a good long time once you look after it well :)
SeaviewParticipantThanks for that, I was leaning towards the scrambler, any particular reason.
Dave.
cathaldParticipantAnother vote for the mysto Dave
I used both recently on flat water but the scrambler was a bit light for a person of a fuller figure like myselfCathal
plainoldmeMemberPretty much the same reason as Cathal, it’s a sturdier boat all round, and I think it has an edge on the scrambler feature-wise.
I’m not the expert on sit-ons, would know more about river running myself, but from what I can see, I would be going for the mysto.
munsterman28ParticipantI use sit in kayaks a lot, always on the sea.
My personal view is that sit on kayaks can be dangerous unless the user is very careful what he/she goes out in. Having said that if you do your wether check and hug the coast they are fine. Most important thing is get a good seat

adrianmatthewsParticipantHi Dave,
Depend what you want to do.
Mysto looks like it was designed for playing in the wave, short distance paddles….
Scrambler looks like designed for longer distances.Happy Days…

SeaviewParticipantWell after all that I change my mind and now I’m going to purchase the caper, link below. It has stability of Mysto and the length of the scrambler so it should be a good all rounder. I already have a surf kayak for the beach / waves which is great fun :D but it’s not great for distance.

Won’t be getting it for a week so I hope the weather stays fine for a while longer.

shutterbugParticipantFrom someone that knows NOTHING about them at all I must say
I liked the sound of the Mysto “A sleek and sexy design, this kayak is like a sports car in the surf.”:)
