I see that this thread has actually kick started alot of activity on the site which is great to see.
I think Robbie’s response summed it up very well, people come and people go, but now and again a wee injection of interest is required. Which this thread has insigated, so nice one JB7.
In his spare time, JB is actually a junior megalomaniac. In order to progress to master status, he must illustrate his ability to control other people’s minds – hence his large number of posts and this mid-bending thread.
When you hear people saying “There’s more to him than meets the eye”, they’re not joking.
And as Hallowe’en approaches, his powers are increasing. What does that tell you? – look at how he managed to persuade Sinead to arrange the LoFi WORLD day and have all of those people turn up – even though he wasn’t there the whole time.
I used to warn my children about the boogy man – now I tell them stories of JB7 … they’re terrified!

At least this thread has seen the return of at least two tautological old timers-
and although Robbie has perfectly described the dynamic of the site and its contributors,
nothing can illustrate better the value of contributors than the return of Rob yesterday
and his flurry of posts-That, and BM’s trawl of the unanswered posts-
It even saw the return of the Bloke…
Posting a message leads to more posts, more conversations,
and the site becomes more buoyant-
there has been a period where posts were down around a hundred a day,
a third of what might have been expected in the good old days-
and contrary to the opinions of the master megalomaniacs,
it isn’t necessary to be abusive in order to achieve it.In fact, the opposite is the case.
The title of this thread was a challenge,
and I was pretty sure that the challenge would be taken-
so it has been worth it, and there is more activity now than when I posted it.However, it has nothing to do with me, it’s down to individual members posting,
and would have happened anyway-However, BM is right about one thing-
make sure to tell your children I’ll be traveling north at the weekend…I’m going to have to start naming these crisis situations so I can compile a Top 10 at some stage in the future-

With the recent increase in members (or at least it seemed to me), I set myself the objective of at least one critique post per day – at least on average over a week. Of course, this fell by the wayside, so I had a choice:
Confess – bless me NFL for I have sinned, it is 10 days since my last critique …
or
Conform – allow myself to be overcome by JB’s mind games and go and do something useful (other than posting jokes and funny images)
You see, even my thick skull can’t resist his mind rays …
Perhaps I should have thrown myself on NFL’s mercy – penance could surely have been no more than self-flagellation …
Instead I took a step closer to joining the JB undead

I certainly don’t think that PI is declining, and I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments expressed about it’s success and value to us – Robbie hit it
on the head when he said that when he thinks photography, he thinks PI.I do have some negative vibes on PI but I have isolated them into just one area – GENERAT CHAT.
I know it’s been debated before, but this area is the home of 95% of the negativity that appears on PI.
Some people use the area to get carried away with their little hobby horses, in some cases act out their little frustrations, AND worst of all, suck
the rest of us into their dross! All in the guise of wit and comedy.The final nail in the coffin for me was when a one of my postings was moderated for expressing an opinion that was obviously contrary to some rule?
Anyway, I’m off, enjoy the waffle, and I look forward to seeing you in the rest of PI, on photographic matters :D
