I took this a while back after, again, seeing something similar on the web somewhere….. boy it was tough as she was only 2 at the time and wouldnt stay still… a lot of potatosoap involved… what do ye think…? tempted to get it printed nice and big… also in general what are your opinions on trying to recreate images you have seen somewhere else… obviously I am not bothered as I find it a useful way to learn and a real challange.. just sometimes I feel a bit guilty about originality etc etc

REALLY nice shot….the one thing I would change…would be to just clone out the door handle, which is a bit of a distraction
I’m not so sure about cloning out the door handle. Agreed, it is a slight distraction but I also think it adds context to the image as well. The simplicity really makes this work for me.
I am now worried about your state of mine Richie. First the image in the shower and now the teddy.

I’m nearly sure I’ve seen the picture you mentioned too. Was it from a movie poster? Can’t remember the movie, but think the picture was of a little kid holding a teddy and looking up in awe at a alien space ship or something, just out of view, that had landed outside their bedroom door (with the light being a strange glow emitting from the alien craft).
Maybe I’m way off the mark here, lol.
Definitely worth a big print Richie.. lovely shot and it conveys so much mood. I think Johnny’s suggestion of cloning out one of the door handles would be worth the effort.

I wouldn’t clone out the door handle, but I’d lose the key. It sets off a train of though which is not relevant (“Does this guy…the one from the shower… LOCK his daughter up at night?”)

Love this shot. The tone is perfect, its so dark with great blacks but its still a somewhat innocent image. I think Ive seen the original picture too somewhere. Oh, and I dont agree with cloning so Id leave the handle in.
On the topic of taking ideas from other pics. Im kinda split, I mean if someone did it to me I’d probably be fairly pissed off to be honest!
Simply stunning – don’t touch it, its beautiful as it is :)
