BrickerParticipantGood pair of shots, and I like the B&W.
If asked for a preference Id go with number one…..prefer the lower vantage point.
Take a look at your horizons, they seem to be off a bit.
jodal1975Participantlovely shots!!..they work perfectly in b&w…one thing , it could be my eyes but it looks like you have used the luminance slider
a little too much for my liking in pp (particularly in the 1st) , its as if the photos have lost detail in order to get rid of noise?..like i say it could be my eyes … but nice shots all the same, clouds are great.Joey CParticipantThanks for taking the time to comment guys..Des, i didn’t even look at the horizon, they are way off – (note to self)…
and Jodal, i did a bit of messing on 1 alright, it was a balancing act to keep the dark heather and the bright glare on the stone..I had merged 3 pics and it looked better but to be honest i’d rather not go down that road so i used 1 pic and tried a few different combinations..and i still wasn’t convinced it looked right, hence i put up 2 different pics.thanks again for taking time to share wisdom.
joeGer 208kParticipantVery nicely exposed and great tones and contrasts, although the 2nd seems sharper.
Would you consider cropping out to the left of the cairn. I think the clouds there distract a bit from that long stretching cloud on the right, and if you do crop, the cairn makes a nice lead into the rest of the image.BMParticipantJoey CParticipantI love the different perspective one can get from showing pics here, thanks again..i’ve cropped this pic ‘6 ways from Sunday’ and it changes it entirely each time, thats why i posted 2. its all food for though and part of learning..
I had thought of cropping left Ger but i liked the difference in cloud formation..I was gonna call it Cloud wars, but i think you might have a point there!
Again thanks,
joe
