Snow Covered Graveyard & Church, Rjukan, Norway
-
MartinParticipant
This is the first place I photographed on my recent trip to Norway. Rjukan is a really beautiful town, you could spend weeks there and not run out of things to photograph.
Straight neg scan with a small bit of contrast and tone added. An easy one to scan so hopefully an easy one to print…
Only posting because NFL-FAN said id get allot of love if I posted it on PI:-)
Mamiya RZ67II, 65mm lens, Fuji Neopan 400 dev’d in Rodinal
nfl-fanParticipantPodgeMemberRobMemberThat looks great Martin, really well controlled…
Even at this scale there seems to be a ton of detail and I’m imagining a print
would be a pleasure to explore with a loupe…If I had one niggle it might be your shooting angle; the perspective does seem
a little higher than might be perfect…Lovely photograph…
aoluainParticipantNice one,
Very different.
I added a very fine black border around this posted here
on PI . . . It is blending into the white backround of the page it needs
to stand out more!Hope you dont mind . . . ?
Beautiful scene.
Alan
jb7ParticipantGood one Martin-
Now I have no problem with putting this in Landscape,
but can you say something about your reasoning?joseph
MadeleineCalaidoWeberParticipantMartinParticipantThanks for the nice words all
“aoluain:” Thanks for the black outline was a good suggestion
“Podge: I reckon the sky is blown”
A feck off :-)“Mr 7: but can you say something about your reasoning”
I never know when your taking the piss or not… To me its a landscape. its got ground, got a sky and got some mountain side, enough to make it a landscape in my book. A simple reason for it being a landscape but what the heck i just enjoy taking pictures….. I hate categorising pictures into categories anyhow. There all pictures at the end of the day, some you like some you don’t like, who cares what box it belongs in….M
PS: Another shot below from the trip..
aoluainParticipantNice one Martin
Nicely exposed and really sharp. nice composition
We dont know anything about snow and ice here in Ireland,
but we know about rain and damp !thedarkroomParticipantIt’s a lovely scene and a great photo but I wonder if it would need to be a small bit darker. While there is detail in the snow, I find that it is not quite but on the verge of burning out. There is a lot of highlight and I feel it would benefit being toned down slightly.
Maybe I need to calibrate my screen either, haven’t done it recently and I’m the only one who has made this comment. Anyone?

Its a neg scan, In the darkroom I will worry about blown out bits and brightness etc. Showing it here all I am looking for is feedback on composition and if people even like the image or would crop etc to be totally honest… Thanks for the feedback
Cheers
MjessthespringerParticipantThey are both lovely Martin. Don’t think I would crop either…
I like you reasoning too. Very profound.
I’d really love to find a place to hide in your rucksack Martin, you have been to some very beautiful places in the past few years. I’m well jealous!
thedarkroomParticipantCertainly no problem with the composition, I like the two of them and thing large silver pixel versions will look great on the wall,
David
