thanks martin, I’ve got hardly any snow here in Rathfriland :( Although it’s only started a few hours ago so maybe it might pick up!
Starting to snow here now in Driogheda, took the pic below, hopefully it will keep snowing. I am camping in the Mourne mountains this weekend, cant wait:-) might get some shots hopefully and put my own advice to use

I did think something similar myself-
Anyway, don’t encourage him-
I think you’re right about the custom white balance Martin-
and if you’re going to be camping there,
beware of any yellowish snow in particular-The Histogram is a handy thing too, if you have it-
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this yet,
but ‘wrap up well’ is the best advice I can think of-j
SeaviewParticipantI was up the Knockmealdown mountains today, unfortunately there wasn’t very much snow but plenty of frost. It was bloody freezing on top, I nearly lost my right hand taking a few snaps. I took a few hundred today so it will take me a little while to see if there is anything worth posting. Must certainly get a few filters soon. All the same was a beautiful day for a walk and I would love to be camping out this weekend in the mountains. Best luck to Martin for the weekend.
Dave.
MartinParticipantAlan, Joseph yis are wimps, camping in winter is great crack. Belows is a slide from a few years ago on the clubs yearly camp out on the summit of Lugnaquilla in Wicklow. We do it every February. If any of you are interested your more than welcome to come along for this years, Alan, Joseph are you interested i have room in the tent?
mgstParticipantFair play to ya Martin looks like you have the right gear for it hope you get the weather your
expecting and look forward to seeing the results.Mick
RobMemberNutters all right…
Unless your tent has bathroom facilties with hot running
water and a bell hop you can count me out too…Rob.
SeaviewParticipantWay to go Martin, I hope to do a few winter camps in the next few months. Once you have the gear it is really enjoyable.
Dave.
Alan RossiterParticipanti have room in the tent?
And if the people in the white coats ever find you I’m sure they’ll make use of it by making a padded room.
Jesus man, you wouldn’t put a milk bottle out in that weather!
Alan
MartinParticipantYis are wimps… Its actually good fun and as Dave and Mick said if you have the right gear your actually fairly comfortable in your tent with your bottle of whiskey. Only problem is if you have to take a pee in the middle of the night:-)

jessthespringerParticipantLoads of snow out there now lads… Had to leave work early this eve as there was a power cut (all of Bryansford and Newcastle in darkness, and freezing as well).
Martin, your a brave man (or nutter as some have suggested) was out walking on sl Martin in Rostrevor today and was freezing (thought I would wear less stuff than normal because was roasted every other day I was out over christmas… big mistake! Feckin global warming!) Was too cold to even take any pictures
