Canon efs 17-55 F2.8, bought late September this year (2010) in Berminghams for €999.
Only been used a handful of times and comes complete with Canon offical lense hood and all relevant boxes.
I still have the original receipt (there is still 9 months left on the guarantee).Price €825

Final opportunity to purchase this lense before it gets traded in (need something a bit wider), in the next week or so. Just checked Conn’s website and they are selling this lense for €1129.99 and that price does not include the lense hood which is approx €40, so there is a potential saving of over €400 (off Conn’s list price) for a lense thats a few months old, hardly ever been used and is still under guarantee.mickydParticipantcolgo2212ParticipantHi Mick,
The reason why i am selling this lens is because i really don’t think i will use it enough to warrant keeping it in my bag as i already own a canon 15-85 (my preferred walkabout lens) and the 17-55 falls in between this and the few times that i have put it on my camera i have nearly always wanted the extra length that my favourite lens provides and the small amount of extra width also. Well you may ask why did i buy it in the first place but in actual fact it was given to as a gift from my previous work colleagues who i left in September last year. When i was leaving they asked what i would like as a going away present and i said that i would love a wide angle zoom (thinking that they would get me a sigma 10-20) but they must have really liked me as they got me a lens at nearly twice the price of that one. One thing i must say about the 17-55 is that the IQ is superb and at 2.8 it is really fast and for anybody doing lowlight shooting or indoor portrait work this lens is excellent, but in reality this lens is wasted on me as i said before as it falls right in between the range of my most favourite lens and i really could do with a proper wide angle zoom.

colgo2212ParticipantRogMemberHi Niall,
Interested in a swap for a Tokina AT-X Pro 11mm-16mm f2.8 EF-S Canon mount?
It’s totally as new & comes with hood, box, instructions & caps.
Bought it new about a year ago, and used maybe two or three times, not through any fault of the lens, just that I tend to use my full frame 1ds2 when shooting wide.
Not as much reach as the Canon 10-22mm, but reports suggest it’s better optically, and of course faster at a constant f2.8.
Rogcolgo2212ParticipantHi Rog,
I am really looking for a 10-20 or 10-22, the 2.8 will most probably be wasted on me as i shoot mostly landscapes. Thanks for the offer though, really much appreciated and best of luck getting a good price/swap for your Tokina.
NíallRogMemberHi Niall,
Thats no problem.
Was actually in two minds anyway  , as I also have the 15-85mm which I like, and what would I do with that if I got the 17-55mm?, plus I’d be short an ultra-wide lens.
I’ll probably Just hold onto what I’ve got.
Good luck with your quest for an ultra-wide.Regards
Rog
