This item has now been SOLD :o
Up for sale is the amazing Manfrotto 136 Fluid Head with QR plate.
This silky smooth panning head is ideal for use with Large Format Monorail or Field cameras as well as Medium Format cameras such as the Hasselblad, Bronica SQ or Mamiya TLR (because they don’t have to be turned on their side for vertical shots).
The Manfrotto 136 is a joy to use and was partnered initially with my Manfrotto 075 tripod although it will fit most, if not all manfrotto ‘pods. As I said the head is ideal for panning smoothly straight up or down or from side to side, so is likely to appeal to video users as well as still enthusiasts.
I used it mainly with the Sinar and Hasselblad and because the long arm can be broken into two parts I shortened the arm for my own purposes. Of course video cameramen may prefer to simply click the extension arm back into place to avail of the extra leverage offered by the longer handle.
Ok, so a beautifully smooth head that can be locked into place and which is 99.9% solid metal and will last longer than any of us reading this. I understand some of the newer fluid heads from Manfrotto are much more ‘plasticky’ than this one which now is sadly discontinued (why do they do that?).
Anyway, this will be that last of the bargains for a day or two so break open your wallets one last time! (Sorry Fintan.)
ben4130ParticipantSoryry for constantly thread hijacking you, is your hasselblad for sale by any chance?
SeoirseMemberBen,
No problem about hijacking the thread. I know that you are keen. I had planned to sell one or other of my larger cameras but not necessarly both.
The Sinar was picked up the other day by randomway, which leaves me with the Hassy and I don’t shoot 35mm any longer so I would be without a camera for the first time in my life if I sold it.
However, I do have a very old and trusty Mamiya C3 + 105mm portrait lens + prism finder which I may consider putting up for sale in the next day or two.
I was reluctant to consider putting up this Mamiya as it has great sentimental value for me and has been used by me for portraits, still life, seascapes, landscapes and just about everything else. It is so versatile.
Would you think people might be interested if I did put it up?
Let me know what you think,
Seoirse.FintanParticipantDo not, I repeat do not sell your C3.
mmh the fluid head is tempting me for my super 8 cine camera
SeoirseMemberFintan,
Your wife must think that I have been sent to this Earth to place temptation in front of you.
(Ehhhh….you HAVE told your wife about all this gear have you?)
Your probably right about the C3. I have never felt so comfortable with any camera as I have with that one. In the next few weeks I’m hoping to pick up a scanner for medium format and will start posting up some of the work I have captured with it. I mean I have only ever had one lens for it and it has forced me to take such a variety of different pics it certainly does add some truth to the adage that ‘one camera, one lens’ maketh the photographer.
Anyway, I will note your interest in the fluid head. In the meantime Fintan get some rest man.
GizzoParticipantSeoirse,
can I dare to ask why are you selling all this good stuff (apart to tempt Fintan, of course..)?????
is the credit crunch so bad?(and yes, after the workshop I am tempted by a medium format myself….damnit!!!)
SeoirseMemberWell Gizzo, it’s like this. I’m not as young as I once was and I have had better health.
I started off last week just wanting to sell my largest tripod because I had bought a wooden Berlebach tripod from Germany which is a bit lighter for me to carry. Then Zoltan asked if I would consider selling my Sinar to him…which I did…and then Ben started asking about my Hassy…then it kinda snowballed from there.
When I checked what I had in my various cubby holes I found an array of curious items some of which I haven’t touched in years, decades even. So I figured if someone could put them to good use then why not shift them now?
Funny thing, I guess over the years we all start gathering stuff which sometimes gets in the way of picture making, so it may be quite liberating for me to reduce my collection down to something more manageable.
Btw, the recession, credit crunch and all that jazz doesn’t bother me a bit. We lived through the 1980’s after all didn’t we?
GizzoParticipantwell thanks to satisfy my curiosity!!!
and yes I understand the feeling of “freedom” when cutting down a bit the gear!!!take care!
CormacParticipantIs this still for sale?
I’m just using a D200 with a grip, but with the big tele on the end that head might be very useful.
C.
SeoirseMemberYes Cormac this is still for sale.
Now note what I saidin the ad. On its own, this is not ideal for people who wish to change orientation from landscape to portrait unless you also get one of those right ange brackety things (can’t remember name of maker) that also attach to the camera.
having said that the D200 is a weighty camera 1.8lb plus lens so it would be good idea to get a beefy head like this one if you get one of those brackets or if you don’t see yourself taking pics in portrait format.
SeoirseMemberFolks, any body interested? This head would also complement the MF075 Tripod which I also have advertised in a separate thread.
SeoirseMemberSorry folks, this item has now been sold.
Manfrotto 075 Tripod (advertised separately) is still for sale though.
