SOLD: Medium Format Mamiya C3 + 105mm DS Lens + Prism

This is my old faithful Mamiya C3 Twin Lens Reflex Camera which I have decided to put up for sale.
I mainly use a ‘blad now and I’m very reluctantly putting this up to see if anyone wants a really great mf camera with a brilliant lens and prism for gorgeous 6×6 negatives.
The camera is currently being serviced and in about 12 days will be ready for collection.
On offer will be:
1. Mamiya C3 6×6 camera body fully oiled, cleaned and new felt traps
2. 105mm DS lens (late version) with dof preview button fully cleaned, lubricated, and serviced (plus original box)
3. Mint prism finder for fully corrected eye level viewing
4. Waist level finder
5. Selection of 46mm filters for b&w, soft focus and colour photographyThis is a beautiful working camera which shows signs of use appropriate to its age but still works perfectly. Note: I bought the camera body s/h but purchased the lens and the prism new so I have been the only owner of these items.
It really is so versatile and can be used for portraits, still life, close-ups and landscapes giving great quality images. It has a great close focusing ability and of course takes interchangeable lenses which are plentiful on the auction site.
Looking for about €350 which I think is fair considering the servicing alone will cost €135.
FintanParticipantrandomwayMemberIf I was you, I’d keep it George, especially after you serviced it. Beautiful looking thing. I had the one Sinead bought in my hands and I was very impressed.
Hold on to it and sell a print or two instead.
SeoirseMemberThanks Fintan & Zoltan.
I will be very sad to see it go, but would be happy for the new owner as it is a serious machine.
It’s not the best time to sell or buy thanks to the latest load of financial shenannigans from our FF friends – money is very tight and I can’t blame people for not wading in with offers.
If it doesn’t sell then there is no harm done. I will simply keep it and use it some more. :D
If I get some time over the next few days I will upload some pics which I have taken with it over the years, – Zoltan, some of the stuff on my walls, which you might remember, was taken with this set-up.
jessthespringerParticipantJust to add my thoughts, this is an absolutely beautiful camera to use. It handles so well,
just feels ‘right’ if you know what I mean. It’s a bargin at this price too, a good bit less than what I paid for mine.
For anyone who hasn’t shot medium format before, all I can say is, you’ll be amazed when
you see the results. I was a bit blown away by it when I made the first print, such depth in tones,
and beautiful bokeh.If I didn’t already have one, I’d be in like a shot…
Sorry to clog up the thread Seoirse, but I’m a bit excited about mine, just thought I’d share…

I told you to buy mine… ha ha!
Sinead, thanks for the endorsement!
Btw, I was away for most of the week and didn’t get to see your Mamiya ‘tree’ landscape until now.
What a super picture it is. Well done! :DExpresbroParticipantDammit Seoirse..that is one beautiful looking camera.
I am sorely tempted..I really am…but her indoors would kill me. Especially after those gangsters fleeced us yesterday.
But damn..it’s looks so good…
(Seriously considering shifting my D80 body now…)
SeoirseMemberThanks Robbie it is a nice camera.
Yes, don’t you nearly feel like a criminal these days for wanting to buy a secondhand camera without undergoing the ‘look’.. … from certain people?
Like, it’s not as if we’re involved in drug dealing or stuff like that. Our respective other halves don’t realise how lucky they are that our only vice is photography…and sure, that hardly costs any money.
ExpresbroParticipantExpresbroParticipantSeoirse,
Is this still available? I had a good look at Sineads camera and I was really impressed. It’s a beautiful camera.
I’m looking at the money situation. I’ve sold one or two bits and pieces and have got some finances now.
Would you consider letting this go for €300 at all?
Cheers
Robbie
8)KPMParticipantRobbie,
you won’t regret this camera if you get it. My father used a C3 for the last few years of his pro career, and I used it for my first wedding job. Its a beautiful bit of kit both to look at and to use, and the results are stunning. An older brother of mine ran off with my dads, and I would love to get a replacement but not at the moment as I am trying to clear out gear rather than accumulate more !!
ExpresbroParticipantCheers Kevin…I had a little play with Sinead’s C330S, which I think is very similar and fell in love with it…looks like a great camera for portraits.
randomwayMemberIt would suit your style well, Robbie. Shell out the 350, don’t be such a cheapskate :)
ExpresbroParticipantHey Zoltan..get back in your box .. ;-) If I was as rich as you I’d offer €400 ;-)
SeoirseMemberHi Robbie, thanks for your offer.
I had advertised this in a few places and a guy has offered the asking but can’t pick it up for a few weeks.
Being the gentleman (i.e. idiot) I am, I had agreed to wait for him. However, if he doesn’t show after the agreed time I will revert back to you and see if we can come to an arrangement, that is, if you haven’t picked up something similar in the meantime.
Regards,
S.
