Some birdies! :D

I was bored today, so I spent a good deal of it stood in the garden photographing some of my little friends. It’s been lovely here lately, you can see that all the birds are in pairs and rather lovey-dovey – rather fitting for Valentine’s day! :) And the dippers in Clonakilty have multiplied by the looks of it… there are now 3 – and one of them obviously a young one :) so I’m really happy, there’s something of spring in the air – and it’s not so cold here anymore either :)
Great Tit
Chaffinch
Blackbird
But the stars of the afternoon were the Blue Tits :D
Hope you like :)

(excuse the high noise on some images – the ISO was up high to combat the murky light – warmer it may be, brighter it ain’t!)
eshortieParticipantPeteTheBlokeMemberI was out birdwatching at the weekend and really felt Spring has sprung.
Lurve is in the air!A couple of those blue tits are lovely, but the study of the blackbird is my favourite.

Thanks! :) these are in my garden – I spend a lot of time standing there taking pics  but also, I do go to Rosscarbery a lot – my parents live there, in walking distance from the estuary, so I spend a lot of time there. I have found so far that a lot of the birds are a bit far away for me with the kit I have, but occasionally I get lucky! :) here’s some of a lapwing from ross last weekend!

I’ll probably post some more of my ross pics soon :)MAC wrote:

Mac:oops: thanks so much! :D I’m certainly no expert, just learning! I use a Nikon D80 with a Sigma 50-500mm lens, I usually shoot at shutter priority 1/200-250 – which is far too low, but compensates for the general murk of the weather that we have here   I usually have it on ISO 800 as well, because the weather is so awful. Sometimes I get lucky and can have a nice high shutter speed thoguh! haha.
To get shots like this (and believe me, there are people who take far far far better!) I mount the Sigma lens on a mono or tripod, and stand for many hours near my bird feeding station, waiting and getting as close as I can… then every time a bir lands in a useful spot, I fire! :) there’s no exact science to it… which is why my shots are only mediocre! haha!
