I’m not to sure bout the Brimstone meself,other images I’ve seen they seem to have dark eyes.When flying their upper wings have an orange/russet tint at the tips and they never seem to open their wings while stationary…..any thoughts?
This I think is a Brimestone. It has the taper/teardrop shape point on the back wing, dark eyes and it lacks the concentric white dot on the wing. They are most common around April-May in the Midlands and west particularly in limestone areas (e.g. the Burren where I got this one) and are fond of dandelions. Clouded Yellows are generally late-summer visitiors from Southern Europe-Africa. Now I’d better stop before members think that this a ‘name the insect forum’!! Hope this is Useful.
