Taken behind Ashton’s Pub in Clonskeagh with a Canon 7D for a 2 second exposure at f/4 and iso 250. Adjusted using a curves and black & white adjustment layer in photoshop, and cropped after I’d uploaded to flickr using picnik.com
If you live near Clonskeagh, the river Dodder is great for scenes like this. It’s a small quiet river with a few small waterfalls, parks, and walkways along its route. Well worth taking a walk along it with a camera.
On flickr, if you see a photo you like, you can click Actions – View Exif Info and you’ll see how the photo was originally taken. It won’t show you what was done later in photoshop, but it’s a great way to get a feel for balancing shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. Helped me a lot anyway.
It is and it isn’t. It’s six photos stitched together in photoshop, and then converted to black and white in photoshop, but everything else is as it was in real life.
