Space, Light and something to focus on …..

LoGillParticipant
Recently I was lucky to be involved in a shoot where we had access to (ahem !!) a “Georgian” home with amazing rooms and huge windows.. most of the day I worked with natural light and the luxury of space, and of course models to focus on … and since then I’ve been chatting through PM wiith some members about the shots and the buzz I felt about the opportunity and some of the results … it made me think a little about all the lighting kits – flash sytems, strobist, gadgets , gizmos and tecchie stuff that I’ve obsessed about (and truly, I’ve loved playing around with lights and gizmos and achieving different results ( – but it ws fun for me to play with natural light !!
So … I’m interested to see you all go natural ;)
anyone want to post their favourite natural light shots?
if its your own image – go for it
if its another photoraphers image – plase ask persmission or credit them ;)L

It’s hard to beat natural light for the gradation of shadow that it can give…and I probably spend far too long thinking about D-Lites and Speedlights and forgetting how yummy that big ole softbox in the sky can be .. :-)
An old one, from when I first got my D80, that I still love, despite it’s imperfections.

Lovely light in the portrait robbie

L
jessthespringerParticipantRob, in the Morrison Hotel in Dublin. Nice available light in there.
Was really sorry I didn’t take more portraits that day.LoGillParticipantwell i have to say – i really love this one – its a stand out super shot !
And Rob – work it .. work it ;)
L
jessthespringerParticipantCheers  I have to say Rob is a great subject, really patient, not at all put off by faffing!
So, a technique I use sometimes, use the spot meter and take a reading for the face, far less likely to produce blown highlights (although, this may have some)
I pushed the blacks on this too..Does this count as available light?
LoGillParticipantit may not be natural light – but its certainly great use of available light ;)
