Beautiful. Look at those markings! I notice that the blue sky persists around your neck o’ the woods. I don’t believe you live in Ireland at all.
Ok….I had her trapped in a blue plastic bag and took the shot as she was flying away :D
I’m sure this is more a reflection on the camera/sensor/lens, but is it just me or is there very heavy purple fringing along the edges of the bird due to the high contrast between bird and sky? it kind of ruins the shot for me :(

It must have been sparrowhawk weekend. I managed to get for an hour on Saturday. Good conditions, lots of birdlife and sure enough I managed to see a sparrowhawk. However, she was flying low and silent and caught me a bit by surprise while I was trying to shot some wrens. So mine is a crap shot. You did very well to catch the detail. Nice one.

Well done, hard bird to catch on the wing no matter what the conditions are like. Good job on the exposure and sure what can you do when it comes to sharpness, take it you’ve cropped it a good bit?
Yeh, its the lens I’m afraid, 5.6 at full zoom….thats all I have to work with :wink: Unless I win the lotto!
