Lovely wide shot, well composed and in focus. Like the
conversion too. Very dramatic sky, lots of weather up there.
A pity about your horizon; if you level it off it will change the
angle of that spike, which is my favourite part of the image –
    nothing political in that…

I agree with Rob, great compsition, and I like the angle leading into the top – ( could you crop it from the original to point that into the corner ??) .. but for my tatse I feel it could use a bit more punch in terms of contrast.

    Nice work :)

I like the composition a lot but…it’s backwards! Is that deliberate?

Thanks for the comments i thought i had got the horizon straight but after closer inspection i can see it is off.

    Lorraine

I used level and curves + some dodge and burn what would suggest to increase the punch in the contrast as i
have the original raw file which i can rework.

Well spotted it has been flipped in PS i just thought it looked better pointing to the right.

I had a little tinker around with the image – and just using levels for contrast and painting it into selected areas using a mask – (I PM’d you with it) there is loads more contrast in there to be had if you fancy it :)

    Well, call me Mister Picky,
but I think a flip is an edit too far in most photographic disciplines,
but particularly in portraiture, and journalism and documentary,
    and architectural photography-

Unless of course, you’re just doing a brochure for a housing estate,
where every second property is mirrored anyway-

Even then, make sure there isn’t any text visible,
or it just generates too many pointless questions anyway-

I’ve seen people make statements about cultural differences regarding the directional reading of text,
    which they then apply to pictures;
    being mostly illiterate,
these distinctions go over my head completely-

    Nice conversion,
    apart from the conversion,
which I find just a bit too wanton-

super shot and the detail is excellent. I would crop as LoGill suggested and have the arrow point into the top right corner

This type of shot would print really well

I grew up just up the road from here. My dad used to get us a 1/4 of cola cubes across the road from where this shot was taken in Flanagans shop before they converted it into a restaurant them were the days :-)

Well, it doesn’t alter the fact that the composition is good, although I wouldn’t have flipped it myself. Howth looks a little ‘confused’ to my eye ;)

Actually did you notice the graffiti on the other side of it? I wasn’t impressed (it was there last weekend). It’s never been touched before (as far as I know).

Thanks for the comments the idea is to turn turn this into a tryptych with different b&w tones. Ah cola cubes not had them for a long time.

    Peter

Howth back in it rightfull place hope it didn’t hurt the eyes too much, this was taken last year so no graffiti i wouldn’t be impressed either.

This is still a work in prgress so any more tips for improvement welocme.

The sphere is a globe .. the geography of the earth was reversed when it was flipped … so the continents were flipped .. so the atlantic coast of europe was flipped … etc
