sports photographers and camera men wanted

    Hi all,

There will be a big MMA event(cage rage) happening the of 3rd of May, national stadium, dublin and i basically need photographers and video camera men. For those of you that dont know what cage rage is, its fighting in a cage such as the UFC. Any ways the photographers would obviously have to have the right equipment for the job but you would be cage side(be warned – big chance of blood splatter). The camera men would also need there own equipment and would need to be of a high standard, i already have one rte camera man ready to go so im sure you can see the type of cameras needed, there would be 3 camera men cage side and another entering the cage before and after fights etc.

Now im sure you’ll all ask but no this isnt a paid job, i dont get paid either simply doing it as a favour to my trainer who is organising it. but you will get some great shots for your own collection and cage rage would be one of the biggest companies in the mma world so could to have on the cv.

if anyone is interested could you possibly send me a link to your work or few pics you’ve taken to tlakes05hotmail.com

    thanks everybody :D

And how much will be offered for the use of images? I would imagine the amounts paid would be large enough to attract the ‘high standards’ which are demanded. Surely your trainer isn’t fussy AND cheap?

ah not so much fussy just trieng to get it done right i suppose, not sure about usage but ill ask him tonight and let you know :D

I’m sure it would be an interesting thing to do, but I just can’t help but feel that the photographer is getting the raw end of the deal. People will be making lots of money somewhere, maybe even your trainer :-) Share the wealth!

lol i no what you mean but i dont think he would get anything out of it either, we(as in the photographers, camera men) would have full rights over all our media so i was thinking of maybe setting up an e-shop so people can buy the photos from there, so the photographer gets the profit, and for the camera men a % of the dvd sales.

ive done a few of the smaller shows and it really is a great night, looking forward to this one :D

Ok, so it costs nothing to get in, your images are your own, and there are no limitations?

Sounds good to me. I’d certainly be interested in it.

    Is flash use allowed?

Sounds cool to me. I’m a big MMA fan. Was near ringside at the last Cage Rage in Dublin and thoroughly enjoyed it.

exactly, we would need a copy of the pics for the website but they would only be displayed, not downloadable, get in for free, as ring side as ring side can be ie leaning on the ring lol, generally flash isnt allowed but it depends if cage rage bring over there own lighting rig then there will be no need for flash, if they dont then flash away……

and joe if u like mma you’ll enjoy yourself, some great fights on the card and the first ever team event in cage rage history, team ireland vs team belgium :D

    i would be interested

I work in the video business too. let me say that generally RTE cameramen are not the best he he. so dont go by that standard

but i would be intrested in shooting stills and could help you source video maybe

Mark – can’t you moderate this thread? It makes me feel ill. We’re
talking about people being locked into a cage together and then beating
the crud out of each other while spectators take photos with their blood-spattered
cameras. Jeez, this is a family site.

I won’t comment on the ethics of such fighting.

But I would say that the fighters won’t be the only ones getting a kick to the balls in this arrangement. :? :(

I think it’s more civilised than you imagine, Andy. They wear cricket boxes.

well pete mma is proven to be a safer sport than boxing and has never had a single fatality during an event, as for the cage its there for the fighters protection to stop them falling out over the ropes in a normal ring as that regulary happens in thai boxing competitions….and as for the blood splatter…that was a joke
