Definitely much safer than boxing. How many deaths a year in boxing? Too many. There’s only one known death in MMA and that was somewhere in eastern europe. Plus the referee’s instructions are simple …. protect the fighters and stop the fight as soon as one contender cannot intelligently defend themselves.

Boxing … the ref seems to be there to make it last as long as possible.

I’d say there has probably been more deaths on this forum than there have been in cage fighting.

Is that something that comes free if you buy the de luxe version photographer’s weskit?

As for boxing, I’ve railed against that in previous threads. It’s the gloves that make
boxing so dangerous – before gloves boxers didn’t aim for the head much because it’s
too sore on the hands. There was more blood but less death. Then along came the
Marquess of Queensbury and the rest is history.

Yeah, boxing is terrible. I mean, it’s much better to photograph the hunt and murder innocent animals, rather than photographing two fairly equal sports competitors go against each other.

I’m sure there’s a logic there, somewhere.

This thread is fine, there is nothing illegal being discussed. Regardless of whether people
agree with this type of sporting activity or not, people have the right to discuss it in a sensible fashion.

tommy is only seeing if anyone wants to be there to photograph it. This is not meant to be a
discussion on the rights or wrongs of it.

    Sorry Tommy. I don’t want to get into a ping-pong argument with you;
gloves allow a fight to last longer but add to the punishment that the brain
takes. The impact is spread so there is less chance of damage at the contact site.
By adding weight to the punch – about 10oz – they can actually increase the energy
transferred to the brain inside the skull. The ultimate aim of boxing is a knockout
and this, by definition, damages the brain. No other “sport” (apart from cage fights, I
suppose) has, as its objective, the mutilation of another human. Often
invisible at the time, this damage is permanent and can manifest itself in many ways.

Of course you’re right Mark, but there are many legal activities considered
distasteful by other people and I could probably make a list of legal photos
that would be condemned immediately by others on the site. If I suggested
photographing (say) wakes I’m sure someone would speak up against the idea.

I don’t see any harm in debating the subject in a civilised manner – better than
beating someone around the head with a 10oz glove.

    cheers mark

yes i know all that but what i was saying is whether your wearing gloves or not you are still goin to try punch someone in the head regardless of how much it hurts your hands.lets leave it at that you dont agree with 2 atheltes fighting in front of a ref, i dont agree with killing innocent animals with a spade for “sport” so lets leave it at that
