:) seeing as you asked .. twice :)
Bear in mind I’m not at ALL specialist in nature or wildlife photography, so pinch of salt …… The shot is nice and sharp and there is good Depth of field isolating it from the background .. but two things strike me as improvable about this shot .. One is the compostion.. its very much centred. (so mabe a square crop might make it a bit more dramatic/ interesting in that regard) .. and the second thing is the lighting.. its very flat and doesn’t help you in terms of creating any depth or vibrancy to the shot. The only remedy for that is taking the shot again, in soft light when there is texture created on the flower ;)
I hope that helps you and makes a bit of sense.
Welcome to the site ;)

joe_elwayParticipantYou’re going to get more feedback if you embed the shot into your post rather than link it. There’s somes guides on how to do this in some of the other topics.
joes64Participanthi, thanks for the comments, its just the basic image ,I would like to extend the canvas on the LH side and at the top addind more background in effect for better balance .Any tips on how to do this properly so it is seamless

I think there is too much detail in your background to do this well, and certainly if you want a seamless .. my PS skills won’t stretch that far. If it were a cleaner background then i would just increase the canvass size and clone in the background .. or drop in a new background.. but I’d chalk this one up as a lesson and bear your ideas for composition in mind for future shoots ;)

RavenAshMemberjoes64Participanthi, does anyone know tecniques for extending canvas size and cloning in background in photoshop
ExpresbroParticipantOkay Joe. Not that I’d be a Photoshop expert..or even remotely close..but this is a quick 10 minute edit I did. It’s pretty easy to do and if you spent a bit more time than I did you could carefully remove any duplication from the cloned part.
Extending the canvas is easy when ya know how. Just select IMAGE-CANVAS SIZE- Then click on the middle right arrow on the Anchor box..the one at 3pm on a clock face. this will then select the left hand side of the canvas for enlarging. Then on this one I increased the canvas by 100 pixels..width only. Leave height at zero. I didn’t think it needed any extra height to be honest..but you could do the same for the height if you wanted to.
Then just use your clone tool too clone sections of the existing image till you get a finish you are happy with.
Then using the same method I just added a white border with black edging.
Play around with it…I’ve never actually done anything like this with an image before…so it really is quite easy.
Hope that helped…
Robbie
8)joes64Participanthi thanks for the interest and responses.
I usually put an image up for critique that is unfinished .it is usually just been through the raw converter and probably cropped. so i expect a bit of flak but it helps me decide if its worth going any further with the image in photoshopPeteTheBlokeMemberSomething about the photo makes the bg look like it’s been added artificially, or been worked on in some way. Do you have the original photo? We could maybe offer advice from start to finish. It _might_ be that you’ve set off in a direction that most people would disagree about.

Here is the original pic .
Any Ideas ?
