This was tone mapped in Photomatrix from one Raw file!!
As always C&C appreciated
Cheers Steve
jb7ParticipantIt looks like a tinted postcard to me-
a combination of the mapping and the very frontal lighting,
and like the Empire State picture,
it has a graphic, 2-dimensional look-I’m sure Christopher Wren might be a bit surprised to find his dome flattened like that…
It’s kinda lucky you caught the shadow of the power station chimney on the Wobbly Bridge,
its the only thing that gives a bit of depth-I don’t know why a well lit picture like this might need tone mapping-
everything looks like it is well within the range of the camera…So I’ve got to assume you want it to be like this-
and to me, its more like a piece of digital art, or graphic design than a photograph-
But what do I know-
I’m sure many will love it-j
ExpresbroParticipantI’d have to agree with Joseph here…whether it’s the tone mapping that’s given it that flat graphical look I don’t know…but it’s very noticeable..
Especially around the Dome and the sky…
I keep expecting the Monty Python foot to come down and squash St.Pauls any second now…
I for one would be curious to see the original shot? Especially as I’ll be traveling with the family to London for a few days in the summer.

8)ossie13ParticipantThanks J as always appreciate your honest C&C…………………….and when I see Chris W down the pub I will ask him
Thanks Robbie will post the original this evening from home………….I am a Londoner so anything I can do to help with the trip let me know :?: This was taken on a walk down the Thames from Tower Bridge to the London Eye/Big Ben which I would recommend!!
Cheers Steve
ExpresbroParticipantCheers Steve,
Any photographic pointers for around London you can share would be great.
I’ve been reading a lot lately about how difficult it has become for photographers in the City..not sure how much of it is hype and how much is real.
Hopefully more hype than fact.
I’ll be with my family, so will be mixing the tourist thing with photography.

Yes have read bits myself, especially using tripod, but I have not encountered any problems myself!! I don’t think you would have any problems with the major sights …Big Ben/London Eye/Tower of London etc…….I think its when you encounter over zealous private security personnel at certain business/hotels etc
