I originally posted this in the Nature/Wildlife forum but didn’t draw any comment so I thought I would drop it in here

This Maple tree really stood out amongst all the greenery in Emo Court 02 Nov 2008……..Mikka

    Hi there,

lovely colours on this, and I think the tree to the immediate right complements it very well (I was going to say ‘the green tree to the right complements it well’ and then realised how silly this would sound….the small willow I mean).

I might have a slightly tighter crop on top and bottom, maybe a centimetre off both.

what a beauty of tree ( : Excellent image Liam

just your sharpening isn’t the best. did you blow the image up because i can see pixel.

Very good colours. Looks a bit over sharpened.
Surely the tree to the right is a deodar.

Thanks for the comments. This is what I was looking for in relation to the sharpness, I thought the web version looked a bit funny.
The image you see is uncropped from the original it has just been processed / tweaked and then resized 900 x 600 from (3888 x 2952) but when I was saving as JPEG I had to drop the image quality down to 3 in order to get the file size acceptable for posting which I think has affected the sharpness.
The TIFF image which I saved immediately after editing the RAW image looks a hell of a lot better, though it is a lot larger pixelwise.
Now what I need are tips on how to preserve the image quality when downsizing for the web……Mikka

hey mikka, post it somewhere else and link to it here instead of uploading it to the forum, you won’t be as restricted for size then
