Starlings sharing Bread

I spotted them doing this out my back garden the past couple of days and it’s strange habit. The bread is there for all to have a party but one starling just sits and waits to be fed by another. Anyone know why this is?

The pic isn’t bad… but I find myself that shooting the birds on green grass rarely produces a flattering image… and I have gazillions like this.

They’re much nicer when you can get them on branches, fence posts etc with some nice background seperation.

Starlngs tend to be the dumbest of birds. We used to catch them in our youth with simple traps whee all other birds would be more cautious. The one on the left is obviously a juvenile and they make the most irritating noise…normally from 5am onwards. They can fly, but feeding themselves seems to be the last of their skills to be picked up. The one on the right must be the parent.

Fledged but not wieened, I had posted not long ago a pic of a mama Grackle taking food from the feeder and feeding her young rite next to the feeder.

    Nice capture sharnahws.
