KMPParticipant
Hi guys,
Took this one last night, trying to get some good shots done for a project.
Wht do you think about this one? thoughts would be apppreciated…Thanks,
ExpresbroParticipantHas lots of attitude anyway Karen and nice composition. Not so sure about the blurring though. It makes it look like a cigarette ad imo, the way the cigarette is so sharp compared to most of the subjects face, if that makes sense.
Cheers
Robbie
8)KMPParticipantThanks for stoppping by Robbie.
Yeah I see what you mean about the blurring, I think my depth of field was a bit narrow…
more work to be done!Karen
ExpresbroParticipantThere’s always more work to be done Karen :D
and btw..I like the DOF , but it makes the cigarette seem all the more separate from the image.
Keep at it anyway…look forward to seeing more
:D
jb7ParticipantKaren- this is fine for starting out-
but it does seem to be a triumph of style over content-The glasses and the cigarette form a barrier to the person;
unless he actually is a minor celebrity,
I can’t really think of why he should go to such great lengths to cover himself up-The angle maybe also a bit much-
I think It might be better to concentrate on the person-
if you can handle the lighting,
they should do all the rest of the work for you-Keep posting-

KMPParticipantHi J,
Well the thing is, i’m doing a project, and i’m trying to take a selection of shots that portray the rockstar image.. that’s why I have the glasses and the cigarette. I’m creating a bit of a bad ass look :)
Its the first session I’ve had with him, i’m heading to the bar on Saturday to take the same sort of shots :)
I have to say I do like the angle, but thanks for your imput its been very useful. I’ll be taking lots more shots, although a lot will also be on black and white film…Karen
jb7ParticipantIf you’d mentioned ‘rock star’ in your original post I might have written something completely different-
Now that you mention it,
it does kinda remind me of Steve Harley, maybe around 1975-I still think the glasses are a bit dark-
might be worth trying to find a lighter pair-And if you could get him to pose with George Bush,
that’d be a dead giveaway-j
AllinthemindParticipantSounds like an interesting project, howabout something half-lit, very high contrast, sweaty face and glasses below the eyeline so you can see his bleary eyes? Keep experimenting
SI
KMPParticipanthi Si,
I’ll hopefully get a lot more done over the weekend, i’ll be playing with some different light.. maybe some candlelight..
There was tequila involved last night, didn’t put those shots up though, might do later ;)Thanks,
Karen
jessthespringerParticipantHiya Karen, I like this… bit of smoke coming out of the fag might add something to it.. looks a bit clean.
Sinead.
KMPParticipanthi Sinead,
THanks, yeah he actually added some smoke in later on photoshop haha.. He’s not a smoker anymore that’s why it wasn’t lit.
We’re going to the bar on Saturday avo anyway, so I’ll see what I come up with then..If i’ not happy i’ll just get drunk! hahHow’s things going with you?
AllinthemindParticipantHi Karen,
I took the below in my back garden at night with a flash off to the side…. Thought you might be interested in the smoke..
Si
KMPParticipantvery nice, I’m sure that smoke burns the eyes!
I have very limited equipement unfortunately…I wish I didn’t have a day job, I have so much to do and not enough time..KMPParticipantAllinthemindParticipantKMP wrote:
…Si what lens did you use for yours?
