Below is an image I took of a walkway in Balbriggan, County Dublin, which leads to be beach.
This image was shot at a pretty wide aperture with flash due to low light. The resultant image was pretty flat. I used adjustment layers to make it more interesting and used the clone tool to completely white out the tunnel exit. I also cropped it slightly to make the lead lines more visually pleasing and that was that.
Really interested to get some feedback as to what people think of it?
Hi Paulie, I do like this. The white light is a little blinding, over cooked, but the rest of the shot makes up for it in my opinion. It almost looks like a HDR shot. Would I hang it on my wall? Probably not, but I’ve already looked at in 3 or 4 times, going back to in…….. So it would be one of my favourites.
I like the way the green moss eases the white through, and the fact that the white spills into the walkway on the wet ground.
In my opinion, well spotted – most people would look on this as an eye sore, which it probably it, but you saw a great shot. Nice.
Thanks a million for the feedback. The white at the entrance is a bit too white to be honest. I tried to recover detail from it but was struggling so I decided to go in the other direction. I agree that it does look HDR but it is one shot. It wasn’t the most interesting picture originally so I suppose I have ventured into surreal territory with my adjustments, but had I not I don’t think I would have ever gone back to it.
Thanks once again for your feedback. Much appreciated.
