ShutterlightMemberI like the first shot. Perhaps you should experiment with mono.
Think it might give it more punch. Greens can often weaken an
image. Try converting to black and white and selenium also and
experiment with contrast. Wud like to see the result.Gerry.
dave350dParticipantThank’s shutterlight for the comments, will try something with it when i get some time, will post it
when i do, but it’l probably be my last post on this site, it’s not for the lack of view’s but the lack of comments
from members, the reason i joined the site was to get people’s comment’s on my photo’s so as i can work
on improving my work, will just have to do it on my own.jodal1975Participanti too like the 1st one …and think it could make a good mono.
i think the problem with the 2nd one is simply that it doesnt represent just how nice the scenery was…sometimes its just hard to make a photo interesting …nomatter how the scenery looks to the eye. there was a discussion on this recently …another member and myself queried the more knowledgeable on this site on how to make certain types of landscape photo work. there was talk of the rule of thirds , light , foreground interest etc..but sometimes the eye , the mind and the ear can paint a scene that a photo just cant in my opinion. your 2nd photo follows all the rules ..very good composition etc but doesnt really grab my attention…..only an opinion :-) and everything i say is not really criticism as much as venting my own frustration ..its from a year and a halves worth of having taken shots of places i know are beautiful but looking at the photos and feeling nothing but disappointment..and again , thats just me….im not saying you feel ( or anyone else) like that about this shot………as for the lack of comments thing , stick with it ! sometimes these kind of places go through quiet patches ( summer hols etc ) and comments are few and far between…..then suddenly everyones got something to say!!! many photo opportunities around loch outher and farnham?
