Stones and a boat
-
PeteTheBlokeMember
Different kind of stones from the ones I shoot when I’m with Andy.
I’ve included the boat at 100% in case JB recognises any old friends.
Don’t often see a two masted yock. Is that a brig?
Or a ketch? Or something? My knowledge of boats suffices for the crossword
in my newspaper, but wouldn’t get me around the world’s oceans.jb7ParticipantI’m not sure ‘yock’ would turn up as a clue,
even in The Times Crossword-A ketch, I’d say. Canoe ended, maybe.
Though this is a modern one-
an older one rigged with spars for topsails
might have introduced even more crosses into your picture-Unlikely, you say, but there was one in Dublin Bay today-
This one is motoring-
you can see the bow wave-
but they’re always nicer under sail-
Though the extra mast somewhat makes up for its lack of a suit-
unless its supposed to carry extra meaning? The headstone in the foreground would be fully legible in a print,
but I can’t read it here-
but its presentation implies some significance-That weathered Cross looks really interesting,
and looks like its got some age-
I might have tried to make more of that-Altogether a quite personal looking photograph-
good to see you back-

PeteTheBlokeMemberIt was the cross I was photographing, but it was all a bit rushed because every few minutes
the rains came a-tumbling down and my camera has no pretensions of being waterproof.
I was running in and out of my car and I’m not quite happy with the pics I ended up taking.
I was planning on a really fetching image called, “The Old Rugged Cross”, or even, “An Crann Ceusaidh”.RobMemberPeteTheBloke wrote:

I was running in and out of my carI think we all know that feeling this July. Cheeses! Will it ever stop?
Lots of detail in this one Pete. When I first looked I thought you might have
been able to make a little more of the sky, though there’s so much detail already
in the foreground that an enhanced background might detract from what we’re
supposed to be looking at.
Nice that you got the ketch in the shot. Great colours by the way, very natural looking…Rob.
