check out the new canon stuff at photokina..on paper its a serious alternative to epson…i had been using a 4g ipod with a belkin device(don’t laugh i know they are slow) and it posed no serious problems so anything else would seem like a luxury….incidentally, i am now using a laptop..but that’s another story.
I use a 40 Gb Xs-Drive. Its small and simple to use with only two buttons, on/off and copy. It has card slots for SD, MMC, MS, MD, CF, SM and XD. I only use compact flash, but I simply switch on, insert the card and press the copy button. The built in software copies the entire contents of any inserted cards to folders on the internal hard drive. It creates a new folder each time the copy button is pressed so there is no conflict with file names.
Only downside is it cannot display the images, but as my eyesight is so poor with those tiny screens I don’t really find it an inconvenience.
I don’t know if this model is still available, but if it is then the 40 Gb version is well under ?100 pounds.
