Similar to processing in micro mini. Out of all of the critique i’ve received so far – most seem to prefer this one. See what you think
carlParticipantAli, I really love that style of processing. Very nice shot and I love the title. If I had to find one criticism, it would be that I would like to see a little bit more of the image above the door just to balance off the bit of road at the bottom (I could well be wrong on this). That shot and the mini would be great for a series.
AliParticipantThanks a mil Carl, i just edited this by chance yesterday (weeks later). It’s amazing shots you miss on the first pass through a days shooting – definitely worth revisiting old shots. Thanks a mil for comments will definitely try out your suggestion.
MarkKeymasterI agree with Carl 100%. Lovely shot. You’ll have to share your post-processing technique with us :)
Jay KingParticipantVery well seen…
For me it’s the bike that’s “stranded”… and it’s just staring at the door… waiting for someone to come out and rescue it!
I like the road markings down the bottom too… really finishes the image by saying; “nothing more to see here folks”!!
Bet you’re pleased with it.
AliParticipantThanks Mark and Jay,
Mark: The workflow for this is very much still work in progress. If i get a set of actions in place i’ll definitely let you in on it.
Jay: Hmm, i can’t say i was chuffed with it after i edited it, i didn’t think it would go down well at all, probably because this kind of photography isn’t really my fort? or what i’m really interested in. My work seems to be all over the place at the moment. I’m still only doing photography 6 months now so i’m experimenting alot. It’s interesting to see your interpretation of the image :).

I love your posted work Ali, and don’t usually post a reply as it’ll be limited to monosyllabics like ‘wow’ or ‘great’.
Now c’mon Ali. I hope you’re not complaining about your “only” 6 months  You obviously have an eye for capturing images as well as getting the best out of them. I’ve been at it for a bit longer than 6 months and don’t often get stunning results like that – very much ‘work in progress’ for me, like! I love the idea of street photography but seem to be, to be monosyllabic, ‘crap’ at it! LOL
You go girl. Sheesh, only 6 months 8)
AliParticipantThanks stasber :). I’m not complaining at all. Would be nice to nail a style and be recognised for it opposed to editing willy nilly :)
You should go into Cork some day and just spend a couple of hours shooting, even if it’s just to have them and revisit a couple of
months later.stasberMemberAli wrote:

About a year down the line in digital and I’m still pfaffing about. I’d say you’ve a trick or two up your sleeve already there..

Yes indeed I do that from time to time, though I’ve only weekends free. Alas, nothing special to report so far! . But getting ideas & tips from this forum helps  .

Arrrggghhh! Six months! That’s exactly how long I’ve been going, and if I had a tenth of your skill and knowledge I’d be pleased. How can you achieve so much in so short a time. Either you’re single or you never sleep, or both.
Stunning work as always Ali
Rob.
AllinthemindParticipantFirstly, really well “seen”. You’ve found a narrative and captured it.
Things that are bothering me, the distortions on the brickwork and door. it looks like you’ve tried to straighten it out but there are some weird bends. Brickwork is a bitch for this. The distance between the door and the bike is a little big for me. As usual your PS is excellent. These are minor things Ali. Above all else, it made me look twice :)

I’m afraid there’s very few tricks up my sleeve, i’ve learned alot from Ciaran and Si (Allinthemind). It’s the little things you pick up
along the way that make i difference i think. And maybe a few hours in photoshop. I have to say, i tormented Si before i even had a camera
to give me shots to edit. :lol:Rob: Well you are my new neighbour- so if you ever want to go shooting give me a shout. I haven’t a clue what road goes where
Si: was never very good at building walls so i’m afraid i didn’t even attempt to straighten the bricks. Spanks for the comments. I see what you mean about the distance.
Damn you, it’s all i can see now :lol:stasberMemberAllinthemind wrote:

Very nice expression – thanks.

Yer alright Ali, there’s no such thing as a straight wall.
RobMemberAh yes, I almost forgot. Welcome to the neighbourhood Ali, and thanks for the offer. Just may take you up on that one of these days.
Rob.
