‘Glory Days’ – As autumn finally takes hold here in Sligo, with the shorter evenings, and heavy autumnal rain seemingly never ending, here’s a newly released shot fresh back from the scanners. This was shot in the final days of summer 2012 on one of those glorious Strandhill evenings that seems to go on forever.
Technical stuff – Hasselblad Xpan2, Fuji Velvia, 30mm lens.
Lovely control of a difficult light, you have retained detail throughout. As an Xpan user myself I can admire your composition using the 30 mm lens, I’m sure it is not easy. I never got around to buying that lens myself so I make do with the 45 & 90 mm lenses. Did you use the centre spot filter over your lens?
Cheers Tex, the actual transparency has a whole load more detail in the shadows that the low res version can’t show. The 30mm lens rarely comes off the camera now since I got it – it’s like a totally different camera compared with using the 45mm. I just got a 90mm also, but haven’t used it yet. The 30mm filter doesn’t come off, you need it for every shot…I don’t take my 45mm one off either.
