3 and 4 for me. Are these a bit soft? Or am I up too late?

    Some comments….

There’s something not right about #1…makes me feel drunk looking at it :-) I think the perspective just doesn’t feel right.

#2 has a really dramatic sky which I think would benefit from some post processing (it’s a bit flat or undramatic). Maybe redone in B&W might bring out the athmosphere and emotion a bit better?

#3 is very striking….very simple yet effective composition. Nice one!

I think #4 is better than #2…the sky is more dramatic in #4 and really brings out the emotion and athmosphere. I like it.

I think #5 would benefit from some cropping and removing a lot of the foreground. There is a lot of empty space in the lower half of the image, which actually takes away from a really good upper half.

#6 is an interesting (even humourous) subject. The sign is a bit over-exposed and the sign-post a bit soft or blurred.

    Overall, not bad.

On revisiting I like #4, it might be interesting as a square crop, and I think perhaps a little rotation

    Hi Janine,

It is always difficult to try and add comments on a big grou; of images like these.

I think some if some of the simple asthetics were corrected the images would improve.

In #1 you are on the right track with including some foreground interest, but there is too
much foreground before we get to the interest on the piece of fencing. I think also that the
image is under exposed too, so a bit of brightening there would reveal some more detail
and a crop reducing the foreground as well.

In #2 the horizon is really off as in not straight and there may be a bit of camera shake
going on too, so watch out for those, very easy to get wrong or overlook.

#3 is a really nice image and nice composition, however it could probably do with a
slight rotation clockwise to straighten up the post in the middle but it works as it is also.
Again a bit of brightening and some more contrast would help the image.

#4 could do with some contrast and again thhe horizon is slightly off too.

#5 is a tricky one to get right, as in to expose the foreground and sky correctly. The foreground
is a little too dark while the sky looks to be correctly exposed.

#6 is a nice image too and as with #5 a difficult one to expose as the sky is correct and the grass
    is too dark.

some really nie images there janine just some fine tuning to improve them.

    Keep shooting!!

This shot was taken a few weeks ago on a lovely sunny evening in the dunes of Strandhill… I took it with my phone and not my camera. Very impressive because I have not edited anything in that photo. What do you think? :) I call it ” Sahara of Sligo” ;)

Hi Janine. I’m not going to comment on individual shots, but I will suggest that you watch your horizons. #2 &#4 seem to be sloping to the left. I like the one of the lifebouy (if that’s what they call it) and the one with the speedlimit sign. You are certainly picking some very difficult subjects to meter properly. The Sahara looks a little too yellow for my taste but a nice shot nonetheless. Keep up the good work.

I really like the 1st one, with the fence. The deep blue sky is awesome, almost oversaturated, but not un-natural looking. The blur and movement, along with the subject, the fence on the ground make it seem as if you caught the fence as it was falling, right in the moment.

The 50km speed limit one is also nice, grabs your attention right away, but could do with some sharpening.

    Nice work there overall.
