Really good shot Streedagh.
Compositionally very sound, love the colours and the vanishing points (seems to be a few)
The only change I would make and it would be minor is i would try to stretch the dynamic
range of tones around the log. Make it a bit more contrasty – shaded areas are slightly bleached
– thats at the right end of the log.
And to a lesser extent makbe lasso and contrasty the horizon by 5% ish.But others make think differently.
But great shot.
Gerry.
phillipMemberclami79Participantjodal1975Participantthanks for taking the time to leave feedback everybody .
gerry im going to go into photoshop and try your suggestions right now… i actually want to play around with the wb / tone ….sand is a bit blue i think ( although it was dark , so i should expect some colour change :? )jodal1975Participant

very slight changes to levels/contrast and curvesShutterlightMemberGood idea about the sand. Once you darkened the tree the sand seems to need a lift.
You only have a few tones so you have to make each bit punchy to stand out. Only tweeking though.
Love to c the final product. Well done again.snaphappyMemberhotjohn01Participantjodal1975ParticipantvoicuParticipantrichiehatchMemberI like this image a lot… but…. and its a small ‘but’ that I generally follow…. If I find a prop (branch, bottle etc etc…) and have to move it, I’ll either move it enough that it looks like its in a fresh position or move it and gently move/sweep the sand around it to make it look that it was naturally in that position. In this shot the branch looks like it was dragged into position leaving the trail behind it…! You possibly found it like this which is fine but I’m nuts about stuff like that…! hahaha
Nice one anyway

jodal1975Participanthi richie , thanks for the comments.that was pretty much the way i found it …i did however move the long narrow end of the branch about 6 inches to the right.i needed that extra 5 degrees to stop unwanted rocks coming in from the left ( you can see the original imprint just to the left )…as for the the deep obvious trail coming from the bottom left corner … not guilty :-). firstly the bloody thing would have been way too heavy judging by the weight of the narrow end!! ( or i really need to work out :-) ) and secondly i didn’t have time , the light was disappearing before my eyes. i did actually consider cloning out the trail…but it just seemed like too much work!
had a look at your site by the way…..really love your stuff….and very helpful!!
