Hi Meghan, I like all three..
No. 1 is a lovely study of the child’s expression. Perhaps a different angle could have captured Mum’s face. and the puppet might have been more
obvious.No. 2 has a great study in it – maybe a portrait crop to capture the little boy and the pupeteer, with just a little of the passers-by.
No. 3 is outstanding – the passers-by as a backdrop, I love the hat showing, without the owner, and the expressions are just magical (especially
with the reaching motion of the little girl) – all great! You’d think I knew somthing about street photography! :)
plainoldmeMemberThanks Ken I really appreciate the comments.
As for no. 2, I really think I missed the moment on that one, but I still liked the composition. The man on the left is the boys father. What I managed to miss was the interaction between the two, as the boy had looked back at him with a big grin on his face, while pointing to the puppeteer.
Would have been brilliant to catch but it’s the luck of the draw I guess!!
FlipsakeParticipantHello, lovely series of shots.Drawn to the third picture also.Great to see the
facial expressions all round.Nice timing, very entertaining.Thanks.MartinOCParticipantYes #3 is the big winner here, it is great and leaves one wondering what the show was.
#1 could maybe use a bit less DoF (but I’m not sure) to keep the distraction at bay but I guess the child’s expression does that by itself and the guy looking towards the fuss works nicely.
#2 is nice but much less atmosphere to it compared to the others.Nice set

YermanParticipantIf the puppet had been in frame on photo 3 it would have added to the childs expression.
sirvadMemberWell holy God. i was looking at these and seen the little guy on the piano and ya know what, i took some of him couple of months back. People walking by think us guys taking pictures of puppets are mad, and are probably right, but the little guy is a great subject. i think they are good street photos but the little guy is a little lost in the first pic, is hard to see him really. The second he is a little too small although the guy on the left makes you wonder what he is looking at and this makes you spot him.
the 3rd pic has 7 people looking out of the pic , just beyond the hat. I presume it was at a performer, but it makes you think you have missed the pic here, so for me its a let down.
Well done bud and keep shooting :)davedunneParticipantThere is an air of mystery to #3. If the other two photographs were not shown, we would all be wondering what everyone is transfixed on and who owns that hat.
For #2, I would have preferred the guy on the right was not there so you could focus more on the boy who seems totally enthralled by the puppeteer. But with street photography you have to take what you can get.
Good photos.
