This is a great little video clip of one of the wedding photography masters at work –

He’s great at getting the couples to dance, as he puts it! I’d still love to see some of the top guys shoot a standard wedding over here, where you have 15 mins with the couple after the ceremony, if you’re lucky. At his seminar in dublin last year he said he usually gets 3-4 hours around Melbourne with the bridal party. Great stuff though & he’s a funny genuine guy.

Mark, you’ve raised an excellent and important point. I’ve long held the view that some of the success of these big name photographers is down to the fact that the couples they work with are really into the whole photography scene, unlike over here, where the attitude more often than not is that the photography is something they are obliged to do to satisfy their parents and so a “let’s get it done quickly” approach prevails. I recall when we got married we took an hour away from everyone, between the ceremony and the reception, to get some photographs done and I’d highly recommend it to anyone contemplating getting married. It’s great to get away from the stress of it all and actually have some time together!

Good find there Thorsten………that was a grand video…….

Our wedding photos were not the norm ………it is because my wife and I got married on a Glacier up in Alaska….No church photos in our wedding book.

Thanks again for posting the link there

    Great stuff there Thorsten…

I’ve got a wedding coming up mid May and I’ve been thinking of trying
a few different things for it. Though I don’t reckon I’d be quite the dancer
    that Yervant seems to be…

Ahh yes,he is the man! I must say i have tried using a second shooter who also doubles as the reflector/video light holder on occasions when shes free and i was blown away the first time we tried it(the video light that is) all shot handheld and without flash, mind you we only tried it for about half an hour as its still hard to tell on the back of the 5D if the light is falling exactly how you want it. That coupled with some kubota actions and you have a different look. If all my brides were like Poppy i wouldnt be able to concentrate
Him and Joe Buissneck are true masters in their fields, great link Thorsten.

That is a super video. Really great to see how the he directs them, and just plays with them. And to see the final shots as he’s shooting. Cheers Thorsten.

He is a true master at evoking emotion from couples. Was also at the Yervant/Buissink seminar last year, great day.

Agree with previous replies, I always try to get the so called “safe shots” in the bag before I try anything new or interesting. But how often does that happen with the timescale we are given on a wedding day!!
