hey Free, might be worth your while posting in a new thread to give them as much recognition as the first set.

Thanks Ali, ill keep that in mind for any new ones, no point burying them in here i suppose.

    Hi Free..

This is just my second post here..but I came across your pics and I just had to ask you something. First off I loved the pics…especially the first set and the last one of the guy entering the pub. But my question is… what kind of a reaction do you get from the subjects? Say in the last one..the guy was obviously aware of you..did he mind? Was there any verbal communication? I ask because I’ve often been walking in town and have come across individuals and scenes and I have thought what a great picture that would make….but even if I had my camera at the time I don’t know if I’d have the nerve to just start snapping. Is there an etiquette to this kind of thing? Or do you just snap away?

    Any comments appreciated.

    Thanks

Really like the second one, I know its probably the technically weakest, but I think it speaks more than the others.

The 3rd is a great shot too but I might crop from the left a small bit!

Thanks for the comments and to be honest, this was something I dwelled over for a while to. Most of my candids involved people who were unaware and with no interaction, I had a discussion with Lorraine on the previous thread regarding the sleeping homeless man as that was the first time I had planned on a proper approach. This never happened, but has since and people are far less intimidated than I expected. A little more bemused than anything. I do think it is a skill that needs to be developed and the only way is through experience. I reckon after a while it will just become second nature.

As for the one of the guy walking into the pub, I caught his expression but all that was in his mind was getting inside so he didnt wait around for any discussion..

Thanks Flipflip, personally i didnt want to crop it as to me it gives a nice subtle DOF that is a sort of point of abstraction.
