Dont know if this has been posted before, but an absolute must for anyway interested in playing with flash and lighting.
Alan RossiterParticipantI found this about 3 weeks ago and it’s like a book on how magic tricks are done! Cool stuff and really defines how a flash is used. I’ve a transmitter with 4 receivers coming as a result with a couple of cheap tripods to try out a few things on the site.
suspectmonkeyMemberExcellent site, I was pointed to it about a year ago by some photographers on another forum I use and it’s been one of the most insightful photography websites I’ve looked at and still check in on regularly. Led to me buying some Vivitar flashes, cheap wireless triggers, light stands and umbrellas – great setup for very low cost!

What trigger did you order, I am looking at a cheapie set of catus ones myself, but not sure?
Alan RossiterParticipantI bought this one. As far as I can tell it is the same as the Cactus just branded differently outside the US. Globally they’re known as Ebay triggers to differentiate from the Pocket Wizards. At £29.99 incl postage they are at a good price. I also got a small antenna from the US as described here and here. By the way, the antenna was expensive and there are other modifications with just wire like this one. Effectively it can increase the trigger range by 800% and at shorter distances improve reliability.
I also had to buy adaptors as my flashes are Minolta fitting but these were minor money. A couple of cheap tripods (less than £10 each) and I have a setup with 4 triggers, flash gels, tripods, modification antenna & adaptors for less than €140.Alan.
randomwayMemberI would wait to see what the RadioPoppers will be like. I have a set of the same triggers as what Alan mentioned, and they are not the best… if you go further than 10m or hide your light behind a tree, they are useless. In studio they are perfect, a cheap and easy way to start using off-camera flashes. Maybe it’s just the battery that should be changed, I don’t know.
Alan RossiterParticipantCheck out the links to the mods links above Zoltan. Also, the batteries that are suppied shoud be disposed of as they are used for initial testing only and are low on power seemingly.

Someone told to be look at radio poppers as well as the skyports, but they are still £100 as opposed to £30, I need to know how to use the flash first and to be honest most of my initial usage will be in doors playing.
