Strobist attempt- critique please

I exposed for the sky, flash on ttl triggered by Nikon cls at camera left, maybe 2 feet off the ground. what else could i have done to improve this or should have done for that matter! :)

Well, for one off-camera flash your lighting looks pretty good to me, although
at this scale it’s a bit difficult to see. I think there’s more of a problem with your
composition here than anything else. The positioning of your friends seems a
bit awkward – perhaps you should have kept them more to the right of centre
by panning farther left and eliminated the trees to the right of the frame. Just
my opinion of course, each to their own…thanks, rob. that’s the sort of thing i like to hear because i was concentrating more on getting the technique right that the framing went totally out of my head. :) thanks!
I think it’s a super job. Well done.
Got myself a cheap Yongnuo manual flash from flea bay and some cactus wireless triggers to start messing around with this kinda stuff.

this was actually my fave from the set although i’m not big on doing the angles (and i did it very badly here as well), i like how it came out. cross processed in PS.
