Strobist vs. K-Swiss attempt no.1

My strobist kit has arrived and the 20d fires the strobes without a problem :) Only I didn’t have any batteries in the house so I’ve only got to shoot something today.
I know its not something you would shoot everyday but I got these new trainers recently and thought they would be a nice first victim :)

Tell me what you think and moreso what I should do to make it better as I’m still near the end of lighting101 on strobist.com so I’ve a good way to go yet :)
Cant wiat till I start the A-level photog course in September :D

Good lighting on the K-Swiss, its even, and great depth of field, you will enjoy this strobist stuff I have a the triggers and flashes but never have time to give it a proper go. Now i think I will. Can you show the set up, im sure beginners will want to know.

Thanks steelydan! :) The umbrella worked very well with this sort of subject so I stuck with that the whole way through. A bare flash gave harsh shadows which I wasn’t looking for.
The strobist info is on my flickr btw (see signature). I was meaning to take a shot of the set ups but I had it all packed up when I remembered  but like I said the info is on my flickr.
You should definately get back to it! This is literally the first time I’ve used a speedlite before (never mind manually) so I wanted a simple subject. I’m finding myself slow working around the kit though – tweaking this and moving that, but I guess that will come in time.
Now all I need is velcro, gaffer tape, more (rechargeable) batteries and a cardboard box :D

Very good, the light is good, not so sure about the composition in the second though. I think I would crop a little different, maybe crop off the bottom and maybe add a little space to the top but I don’t think it need much. Nice trainers too!

    Sinead.
